Sunday worship is held in the afternoon from 3 to 5 pm at the Community Bible Church of Northern Westchester, New York. Children's Sunday school is held at this time as well. Adult Sunday school classes start at 5 pm. Prayer meeting takes place every Tuesday evening at the church. On Thursday mornings, the Women's Fellowship meets at the church, and on Friday evenings, there are several Bible study groups which meet both at the church and in family homes in the area.
WCCF started as a Bible study class in 1974. Several Chinese families in the Westchester area began a Friday evening Bible study in their homes. In 1979, with the families continuing to attend regular Sunday morning services in the area, a monthly Sunday afternoon worship service was started. The main purpose of the service was to preach the Gospel to the Chinese in the area. By 1984, the service became a regular Sunday service. The speakers included fellowship members along with occasional invited speakers from Chinese churches in the New York metropolitan area.
Before the late 1990's, most of the congregation came from Taiwan or Hong Kong. Over the last decade, many have come from mainland China. WCCF networks with other Chinese churches through the invitation of their Sunday speakers and through joint attendance at special classes. Every year WCCF participates in two major events along with more than twenty other Chinese churches - a New York Summer Conference held during Independence Day weekend at Hofstra University, and a Gospel Camp held during Labor Day weekend at Harvey Cedars Bible Conference on the Jersey shore. The goals of the conferences are to spread the Gospel among the Chinese, to train believers in discipleship and to send missionaries to China.
Times are changing with transitions frequently seen among the congregation. However, God has never ceased to lead and bless this church and its mission. Over the past few years, many people have come to the US from China, and have accepted Christ as their personal Savior. Their testimonies have greatly encouraged the congregation. WCCF's mission is to continue to share the Gospel, obeying the Great Commission of Christ before He ascended to heaven.
