May 8, 2007, Tuesday
It’s a special day. I was so excited that I could not sleep well
last night. Indeed, I have been pretty
happy today. That is very rare for me
nowadays.
The Symmes elementary school
(three girls graduated from, and Priscilla currently attending) held a
dedication of an outdoor music instrument (metallophone),
donated by staffs, teachers, and many parents, in memory of Lydia.
Entire school students, staffs,
teachers, and many parents, as well as many Lydia’s fourth
grade classmates (Yes, they all came from their fifth grade middle school)
to participate. We were so
touched. Very touched. The overwhelming love and the support were
phenomenal.
Of course, it was very emotional
too, a lot of tears from many teachers and mothers during the ceremony.
I am sure these children would
always remember Lydia, especially her fourth grade classmates.
I pray that in their mind, Lydia’s
story was not a sad story. Instead, a
life, although short, full of faith, love, and hope.
This wonderful community, Symmes
Elementary, really made a great memorable day for our family.
Sincere and many thanks from the entire Wu family. It meant so much to us.
This instrument will be installed in
Symmes Elementary school and last for many years to come. I am sure it will continue reminding students
about Lydia.
The little light of Lydia will
continue shining…
