“When I called, you answered me; and strengthened
me with strength in my soul.” (Ps.138:3)
When a six-year-old girl named Phoebe
decided to do something for the homeless people in her San Francisco neighborhood, nobody really paid any
attention to her idea. When she was in
preschool, she noticed that the poor needed help. She began to collect aluminum cans to
exchange for money.Her parents helped
her to buy food to feed the homeless. She wrote a simple letter to share her plea and eventually inspired
many people to support her fundraising campaign. She raised enough contributions to cover
over 135,000 meals for the needy.First Lady Michelle Obama wrote her a
personal note to congratulate her.
Caitlin was just like many other teenagers, she did not like
herself. She had bad self-esteem.When she noticed that her low self-esteem came
from a lack encouragement from others, she decided to do some kind things for
others. She began to stick a piece of
paper with encouraging words such as “You are beautiful.” On the mirror of
the public bathroom at her community college in Florida. She blogged about the responses she received
from people who saw the notes on the mirror.A worldwide response ensued with readers posting their own creative
and encouraging notes.These words of
encouragement turned around days for many weary folks. In some cases, some recipients of these
random notes decided not to commit suicide.
a school bus driver named, Mr. Munoz, decided to help hungry people that
waited under a subway stop in Queens,
to have some snacks.Every night
around , he packed
and delivered food to 140-plus hungry people for many years. He used half of his weekly salary of $700
to buy food and supplies. Many TV
stations and media outlets have shared his story.
We all have great potential to help others. Many times we only care for our own needs
and ignore other people. When we begin
to treat others needs as our own needs, we realize that as we help satisfy
their needs, our needs will be satisfied at the same time.God can use our good deeds to bless many
people. We all can become the outlet
of God’s grace.
