報告事項

1. 暑期兒童聖經班同工開會﹕今天主日崇拜後十二時三十分在英文圖書館會議,請所有同工都來參加。

2. 育嬰室工程需要幫手5/24日開工預計兩週完成,本日需同工將家俱搬離,若您能幫忙請聚會後到育嬰室。謝謝。

3. 聯合禱告會﹕五月二十六日週三晚上七時三十分,在美聖堂舉行,來參加。

4. 2010暑期兒童聖經班開始報名6/216/25日(週一至週五)上午九時至中午,在本堂舉行,歡迎四歲至六年級孩子參加,報名單在桌上,6/6日截止ㄖ,填妥後請交給黃佐治弟兄或放入入口處籃子

1. VBS Coworkers Meeting: meets TODAY, 12:30 pm at English Library. VBS coworkers must attend

2.Nursery Room construction: begins on 5/24 speculated completion two weeks. We need workers to help move furniture today. If you can help, please meet at Nursery after Worship.

3.Combined Prayer Meeting: Wed. May 26, 7:30pm at Mason. make every effort to attend.

4.2010 VBS Registration: VBS will be from 6/21~6/25 (Mon. thru Fri.) 9~12pm at Compton. Welcome 4yrs to 6th graders to attend. Registration forms are on the table. After completion, please give to Bro George Wong or place in basket near the entrance.

5.Love Feast: Sun. May 30 after Worship Service. Thanks to Anderson Fellowship for food preparation and Cantonese Fellowship for setting and cleaning up. The proceeds collected for this Love Feast will go to support the Thai team leaving in December. Please stay and enjoy the wonderful fellowship in the Lord.

6.Adult Sunday School Summer session: registration begins today. Class begins on 6/6, 9:15am. Please fill out the registration form in today’s bulletin. Enthusiastically attend and equip yourself.

7.Baptism class: begins on Sun. July 11; those bros and sis preparing to be baptized, please contact Rebecca Wu at 858-3490 before June 20.

8.40th Anniversary Celebration Committee: If you have invited bros and sis that moved away that will attend the anniversary celebration in August, please contact Bill Chan at 834-5966 or Amy Tang for better preparation and so that we can send further details on the activities.

喝足夠的水

    

  「耶穌站著高聲說,人若渴了,可以到我這裏來喝。」(約737)。

   對一個跑馬拉松賽跑的人來說,剛開始跑的快,不是一件好事;要能持之以恆,維持一定的速度,才是得勝的秘訣。26英哩是一個相當長的距離,要讓身體中每個一部份,像機械一般的平衡運轉,不忽快忽慢,需要相當大的意志力。除此之外,如何保持正常的新陳代謝,不停的供應所需的體力,水份是一件非常重要的成份。幾乎所有的忠告都是,「儘量喝足夠的水。」通常在跑道上設有許多的飲水站,大部份的競賽者都會慢下來,拿一杯水喝。因為身體若是缺水,新陳代謝漸緩,會出現糊塗的現象。若嚴重缺水,一個人可以立刻死亡。有些經驗不足的運動員,覺得慢下來取水喝是浪費時間,就不肯靠近供水站。結果到了最後一段路程,就會出現精力衰竭現象,頭暈眼花,甚至失去平衡。所以有經驗的賽跑者,就會沿途緩慢下來,喝一點水補充身份的水份。因為我們的身體最需要的物質就是空氣和水,沒有水一切都無法正常運轉。

   同樣的道理,我們屬靈的活力,也是依賴不斷屬靈的水份之供應。我們總以為,在每天忙碌的生活中,那有時間去浪費在讀聖經,默想禱告。正如那些無經驗的長跑者,為了要到達終點,或是完成任務,我們不停的向前衝,而不顧自己屬靈活水的需要,直到精疲力竭,靈裏枯幹。其實基督徒的人生,正如一場長跑,唯有不斷的靠主所賜的活水,才能圓滿的跑盡全程。

   有個年輕的選手,在他剩下只有一英哩就到達終點之前,變成嚴重脫水現象;就離開了跑道,到處走來走去,說﹕「我沒事,我沒事。」他已經無法認知自己變的迷糊了。有些基督徒也是這樣,太久沒有花功夫來親近主,支取生命的活水,已經變的迷糊了自己還不知道;在這世上也是轉來轉去,不曉在忙什麼;那是何等可憐。

Drink Plenty of Water

   “Jesus stood and said in a loud voice: “If anyone thirsty. Let him come to me and drink.” (John 7:37)

   To a Marathon runner, it is not a good to take the lead at the beginning of a race. The secret of successful running is to keep a constant pace and stretch out ones energy as much as one can until the end.  Twenty-six miles is a long distance. A runner has to manage every part of his body in order for it to operate smoothly like a machine, and it requires great determination.  In order to keep the body’s metabolism normal, water is absolutely essential.  No matter whom you turn to for advice, it’s always been the same message: “drink plenty of water.”  All along most racecourses are water stations, and most runners slow down to drink a cup of cool water.  Keeping hydrated is critical when you run.  If you become slightly dehydrated, you will not run well.  If you become moderately dehydrated, you will become disoriented.  If you get seriously dehydrated, you could die. Some inexperienced runners feel it’s a waste of time to slow down and drink water.  This is a big mistake, when they reach the final stage, their energy drops to zero, they will have headaches and hardly enough energy to walk to the line.  Therefore, experienced runners always slow down to drink some water.  Stopping for water doesn’t actually slow down the race, because our body is simply not designed to function without water.

   In the same way, our spiritual stamina depends on stopping for regular drinks of “spiritual water.”  Sometimes we consider it a waste of time to have daily devotion of Bible reading and prayer.  We act just like inexperienced runners working furiously without caring for our spiritual needs for living water.  Then, we become very dry and burnout easily.  In fact, when finishing the Christian race everything may depend on it.  And runners who don’t ever slow down to take a drink often stumble off the course, far short of the finish line.

   There was once a young athlete that competed in a Marathon.  He became dehydrated just about a mile to the finish line.  Strangely, he didn’t seem to realize that anything was wrong.  He was swaying from side to side as he walked, mumbling over and over, I’m fine. I’m fine.” He was so disoriented that he didn’t even recognize his sick condition.  Some Christians are just like him.  When we don’t go to the Lord and drink the living water of life, we don’t even know we are disoriented and have become lost in the world.  Stop today and drink some cool “living water” from the Lord.  It is a must for serious runners.
